The Alvee Practice works with a carefully selected group of associate therapists who share our commitment to evidence-based, high-quality psychological therapy. Each associate is independently accredited and brings specialist expertise to the practice.
Rizwana is a BABCP Accredited CBT Psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience in mental health services and thousands of clinical hours delivered across NHS inpatient and outpatient settings. Her career began in dementia care before progressing into psychological therapies, where she has built an extensive and highly skilled clinical practice supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health difficulties.
Rizwana trained at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London — one of the world's leading centres for mental health research and training — where she studied under renowned experts in cognitive behavioural therapies. Her clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches, compassion, and a strong commitment to improving outcomes in a manner that is collaborative, safe and non-judgemental.
Alongside her clinical work, Rizwana is an experienced CBT supervisor, providing supervision to both qualified CBT therapists and those working towards their BABCP accreditation. She currently works as a Psychotherapist and supervisor for an NHS service in London, and has received specialist training in complex PTSD from OxCADAT and in long-term health conditions from the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London.
Rizwana has availability throughout the week, primarily in the evenings, making her an accessible option for clients who work during the day.
I'm a BABCP accredited CBT Psychotherapist and CBT Supervisor, with extensive experience working across the NHS since 2008. Throughout my career, I've worked across forensic, primary and secondary care settings, supporting people with a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, personality difficulties and complex mental health needs.
I have specialist training in CBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and I draw on these approaches to provide therapy that is tailored to each individual. I currently work within a local NHS Trust, having previously worked as a personality disorder lead, and I also provide group therapy for people with complex needs and lead clinical skills supervision for NHS colleagues.
Alongside my clinical work, I've enjoyed supporting and training other professionals, including delivering educational training to NHS staff and students at the University of Essex.
For me, therapy is about creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted. I work collaboratively with you to understand your experiences, needs and goals — and I'm passionate about supporting people to make sense of their experiences, build confidence in themselves and develop practical tools to create meaningful and lasting change.
The Alvee Practice welcomes enquiries from fully accredited therapists and psychologists looking for a professional, well-equipped clinical space in Leigh-on-Sea. We maintain high standards across the practice and work only with practitioners who share our commitment to evidence-based, ethical, and high-quality care.
We require all associates to hold accreditation or registration with a recognised professional body — including BABCP, UKCP, HCPC, or BPS — and to hold their own professional indemnity insurance. All associates must have adequate clinical supervision in place prior to joining.
We are particularly keen to hear from accredited EMDR and CBT therapists, especially those with experience working with children and young people, and from practitioners who bring significant NHS clinical experience to their private practice.
Please note: all associate therapists work in association with The Alvee Practice and use our clinic space, but are entirely independent practitioners. They are self-employed, hold their own professional indemnity insurance, and are solely responsible for their own clinical practice and client data. Each associate operates under their own privacy policy, which is separate from that of The Alvee Practice and Christopher Spanton. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information on how data is handled when working with an associate.
