EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitiation and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people heal from difficult or traumatic experiences. Sometimes, when something upsetting happens, our brains don’t fully process it, and the memory can stay “stuck,” causing distress long after the event. EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess these memories so they feel less intense and upsetting. In sessions, you’ll be gently guided to think about the memory while doing something called bilateral stimulation—like following a moving light or tapping—which helps your brain work through the experience in a safe and supported way. Many people find that EMDR helps them feel lighter, calmer, and more in control of their emotions.
Behavioural Couples Therapy is a type of therapy designed to help couples improve their relationship by focusing on communication, problem-solving, and positive behaviours. It’s based on the idea that how partners interact—especially during times of stress—can affect both their emotional connection and individual wellbeing. In sessions, couples learn practical tools to better understand each other, express needs more clearly, and respond in ways that strengthen trust and closeness. The therapist helps guide conversations so that both partners feel heard and supported, and encourages small, meaningful changes that can lead to a more satisfying and resilient relationship.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected. Sometimes, we get stuck in patterns of thinking that make us feel worse or hold us back. CBT helps you notice these patterns and learn new ways of responding that are more helpful and balanced. In therapy, you’ll work together with your therapist to explore challenges, set goals, and develop tools to manage things like anxiety, low mood, stress, or unhelpful habits. It’s a collaborative process that focuses on making small, manageable changes that can lead to lasting improvements in how you feel and cope day to day.
Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is a short-term, structured therapy that helps people understand how their relationships and emotional experiences are connected. It’s based on the idea that patterns in how we relate to others—often shaped by early life experiences—can affect how we feel and behave today. In DIT, you’ll work with your therapist to explore these patterns, especially those that might be contributing to anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties. The goal is to help you gain insight into your emotional world, improve how you connect with others, and feel more confident in managing life’s challenges.

What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful psychotherapy approach that has helped millions of people relieve many types of psychological stress. It is highly effective for trauma and PTSD, and also beneficial for anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties.
Research Supporting EMDR:
EMDR is backed by extensive research and is recognised as an effective form of treatment by numerous organisations, including the British Psychological Society (BPS), the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Studies have shown that EMDR can produce significant and lasting improvements more rapidly than conventional therapy methods.

We offer high-standard EMDR psychotherapy, which can be delivered both online and face-to-face. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) has been shown to be an effective treatment for various common mental health problems, particularly for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Widely used in the NHS, EMDR is backed by a substantial body of research supporting its efficacy and safety. This novel psychotherapy method helps individuals process and integrate traumatic memories, leading to significant improvements in their mental health and overall well-being.
Our clinic is confidential, quiet and modern based near Leigh train station and is on the ground floor.

EMDR Psychotherapy can help you with a wide range of issues including anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship problems, stress management, and more. EMDR research has shown great results for trauma and recently for recurrent depression. Our therapists will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals.
The frequency of EMDR psychotherapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may benefit from being seen several times a week. There is a body of research that supports intensive EMDR by even doing several sessions in one day or even on back to back days.
Online EMDR has been shown from research to be effective and can be just as impactful as face to face sessions. We use specialist software to ensure EMDR is delivered effectively. In the NHS online EMDR is widely used and the decision for online versus face to face sessions should be based on preference. Some find attending a venue and being in person more helpful but some may find the accessibility of online EMDR helpful.
We are pleased to confirm that we are able to work with leading health insurance providers, including Bupa, AXA, Aviva, Vitality, Allianz, and WPA. Please note that some providers may cap the number of sessions available; this can, of course, be explored in detail prior to starting therapy to ensure it meets your needs.
